The White Rose Shopping Centre’s new leisure extension is estimated to create 350 jobs for the city. Morgan Sindall has been awarded the £13.7m design and build contract by Land Securities which includes a 15-month maintenance period.
The latest plans for the development consist of an 11 screen cinema, operated by Cineworld IMAX, furthermore, it will have six additional family friendly restaurants. There is also plans to host seasonal events within the outdoor area including summer pop-ups.
With the latest IMAX technology, the project includes the fitting of specialist padding around the steel work to allow for finest acoustics.
There are six retail units totalling 25,000 sq ft, four tenants have already been confirmed as Pizza Hut, Wagamama, TGI Fridays and Chiquito.
Barry Roberts, the area director at Morgan Sindall, commented: “This is a fantastic project to be involved with and one which many people in West Yorkshire and beyond will benefit from. It will be a remarkable addition to the family leisure offering of the region and we understand our responsibility in making the vision of the developer a reality.”
With the diverse range of food outlets and the IMAX cinema “this will enhance the strong retail offer at White Rose Shopping Centre” says Rob Jewell, Portfolio director at Land Securities.
Jewell, continues: “Land Securities is thrilled to provide the centre’s loyal catchment with prestigious and favoured leisure and dining brands, such as Cineworld IMAX, Wagamama and Chiquito.”
