GVA, acting on behalf of Reflections Ltd, a Ubisoft Studio, has secured a lease of 2 floors within Partnership House, Regent Centre, Gosforth that totals 30,000 sq ft.
The major video game firm, famous for the Tom Clancy’s and Assassins Creed series, is expanding its UK presence with the occupation of the 3rd and 5th floors, which will accommodate 250 staff within a newly developed computer games studio.
This transaction follows Ubisoft’s opening of a 17,000 sq ft Consumer Relationship Centre back in September last year at Haymarket’s ‘The Hub’ in Newcastle, where it handles all of the interactions with its gamers across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Director and Head of Office Agency at Bilfinger GVA Newcastle, Tony Wordsworth, commented: “This is another significant letting to a major global business who have committed to opening a major new games studio within Newcastle where they already operate their EMEA consumer relationship centre from The Hub within Newcastle city centre.”
UK Minister for the Digital Economy, Ed Vaizey, sees this as great benefit for the UK, saying: “Ubisoft’s long-term plans are testament to the wealth of talent in the North East in particular.
“Government and industry are working together to make UK the best place in the world for video game production, and this investment provides a welcome boost towards realising this ambition.”
Acting for the landlords of Partnership House, Carillion Energy Services, was Sanderson Weatherall.
