The only Beatles inspired hotel in the world — the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool — is being offered for sale with an £11m guide price.
Opened in 2008 during the city’s Capital of Culture year, the luxury hotel continues to attract Beatles’ fans from around the world making the pop pilgrimage to Merseyside. It is located on the corner of the world-famous Mathew Street and is named after the hit song and film, A Hard Day’s Night.
Hard Days Night — housed in the 1884 completed Grade II listed Central Buildings — is owned and operated by Liverpool-based Concord Estates, run by property entrepreneur Tony Criss.
“This landmark building plays a key role in sustaining the city’s burgeoning reputation as a major tourist destination within the UK and we are incredibly excited to start entering into discussions with interested parties,” commented CBRE director, Shaun Skidmore.
“In bringing the Hard Days Night Hotel to the market, we are offering a unique opportunity to acquire not only a culturally significant property but a hugely successful, luxury hotel with an international client base in the best location within one of the UK’s most popular cities.”
In addition to the 110 luxury bedrooms, including the famed McCartney and Lennon suites, the boutique hotel contains a number of bars and restaurants. Its conferences and function rooms feature exclusive Beatles artwork by world-renowned artists and its grand central staircase, considered one of the hotel’s most spectacular features, is lined with Beatles photographs dating back to the 1960s.
Mike Dewey is the Hard Days Night’s general manager. “The hotel was created as a unique blend of high quality hotel facilities with a subtle ‘twist’ to cleverly portray the incredible story of the Beatles,” he explained.
“Its unrivalled location, surrounded by Liverpool’s popular tourist destinations, means that it is top choice for visitors, with the additional commercial appeal as a business, event and wedding venue.” Repair work to the upper floors of his hotel was completed last year after a 2013 fire damaged 25 bedrooms.
Meanwhile, the construction of a second Liverpool legend inspired hotel is progressing with the £20m Shankly Hotel scheduled to open in time for the new Premier League football season this August.
The 145,000 sq ft project will transform Millenium House, the former city council offices, into a luxury 83-bedroom football-themed hotel in honour of the legendary Liverpool football club manager Bill Shankly. It is being developed as a joint venture between Signature Living and the surviving Shankly family.
Alongside the football-themed bars and restaurant will be a museum dedicated to the football icon, which will contain never-before-seen family memorabilia covering his glittering reign at Anfield.
“The planned hotel and museum is a hugely exciting project and will be yet another great positive for Liverpool,” said the city council cabinet member for regeneration, Malcolm Kennedy, during a recent visit.
“As well as creating new jobs, the development will add to the further regeneration of the city centre and breathe new life into Victoria Street.”
