Unibail-Rodamco, Europe’s leading listed commercial property company, has unveiled plans for what is described as one of the largest developments in Central Europe this year.
The scheme will increase the size of established Prague shopping centre Centrum Chodov by over two thirds to 1,079,469 sq ft, transforming it into the leading retail and leisure destination in the Czech Republic when it opens in autumn 2017.
The extension will create space for the introduction of new stores and exclusive concepts, a number of which have already been confirmed, including an 18 screen multiplex 4DX cinema and the first Wagamama restaurant in the Czech market.
Unibail-Rodamco’s The Dining Experience will be a key feature of the expanded centre, with 43 restaurants offering the best of local and international cuisine. It will also stage events and provide entertainment such as cooking classes or sushi and cocktail workshops.
The Group will also be introducing its latest fashion concept The Designer Gallery TM to Centrum Chodov, showcasing the latest trends and providing visitors with the opportunity to encounter the work of young and dynamic designers.
In addition, Inditex Group has signed for flagship stores for seven of its renowned brands – Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho and Zara Home. H&M will also be taking a 32,292 sq ft flagship unit.
“Centrum Chodov will take the Czech shopping experience to a whole new level,” said Arnaud Burlin, Unibail-Rodamco’s Managing Director for Central Europe.
“We are creating a new retail and leisure destination in Prague, allowing family and friends to spend quality time together in an enjoyable atmosphere, whether they are looking for the best of fashion, great entertainment or international cuisine.”
With annual footfall expected to reach 16 million following the opening of the extension, Centrum Chodov will carry the 4 Star Label, reflecting the group’s approach to setting ambitious targets at each stage of the customer’s shopping experience.
Renowned architectural firm Benoy has been commissioned at Centrum Chodov along with French studio Saguez & Partners. The centre will meet Unibail-Rodamco’s sustainability standards with a BREEAM VERY GOOD rating and an EXCELLENT in Building Management.
