As part of the Arena Central scheme, a proposal has been submitted for new offices and apartments on Broad Street in Birmingham’s City Centre Enterprise Zone.
Two Arena Central will consist of 212,821 sq ft Grade A office space, designed by architect Ken Shuttleworth’s Make, while the 400 apartments were designed by Glenn Howells.
There will also be 13,500 sq ft of space for retail on the ground floor.
The plans follow those for One Arena Central, Birmingham’s first speculative office scheme since the recession.
Speaking on behalf of Arena Central Developments (ACD), Jonathan Wallis, said: “Demolition of the whole of Arena Central has already started and will be complete by the summer and we could be on site by the end of the year”
The Arena Central site totals 9.2 acres with 2.3 million sq ft of mixed-use space. This includes; 860,000 sq ft of Grade A offices, 2,500 parking spaces, 200,000 sq ft of residential units and 1.2 million sq ft of leisure and retail units.
Mr Wallis added that “Birmingham has never seen a truly mixed-use development with offices, retail and residential sitting side by side in a highly managed, landscaped environment in the heart of the city-these two planning applications are the first stages to deliver this vision”.
Agents that have been assigned to the commercial property element are CBRE and GVA. Completion of the scheme is expected to be 2017.
