Alternative to Shopping on New Year’s Day 2013

Posted on 1 January, 2013 by MOVEHUT

With all the hustle and bustle of shopping in sales, why not give it a miss today? After all, you have had the run up to Christmas and Boxing Day to satisfy your desire to find a bargain. If you are tempted and live in the London area, why not head down to The Parade?

London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP)

The Parade has run every year on the 1st of January for the last 27 years. Last year around 8,000 people performed and over 500,000 people watched. It was a huge success and there was something for everyone to enjoy as Dan Kirkby, Communications Director for LNYDP commented.

He said: “The 26th New Year’s Day Parade here in London is a wonderful platform for a fantastic city.”

What to expect at the LNYDP 2013?

The Parade starts in Piccadilly at 11:45am and will finish at around 3pm outside the Ritz Hotel. Around 10,000 people will be performing, an increase of 2,000 from last year – so the parade is bound to be bigger and attract a much wider audience than last year.

Bands will be marching, cheerleaders and clowns will be performing and acrobats will be showcasing their talents, amongst other performances. After to the parade, there will be a ‘Grand Finale Concert’ taking place at Cadogan Hall at 8pm on 2nd January.

Will you be going to watch The Parade on New Year’s Day, rather than shopping? Or are the January sales just too tempting? Whatever you decide to do, we would like to wish all our readers a Happy New Year.
