Apple is preparing to move into a seven-building campus in Sunnyvale, California. The tech company will move as many as 1,450 workers into the new premises, according to commercial property sources and city documents.
This deal is the latest sign of the company’s expansion. It has been leasing office space in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale as well as starting construction of a 2.8 million square-foot campus in Cupertino which has been dubbed “the spaceship.” The latter could provide workspace for as many as 14,200 workers.
In its most recent expansion, Apple plans to occupy a 290,000 square-foot office space called Sunnyvale Crossing, which is located close to the corner of Central Expressway and North Wolfe Road.
Lane Partners, a Menlo Park-based company, bought the complex and performed renovations to update the existing buildings into a state-of-the-art office complex.
The City of Sunnyvale has received building permit applications for the seven buildings in the campus. They are being marketed by the realty brokerage of Cornish & Carey Commercial.
Apple is listed on city records as the tenant in a 69,000 square-foot-building located at 120 San Gabriel Drive. According to sources, the company plans to occupy the other six buildings on the site as well.
The applications for interior improvements in the existing buildings must be approved by the planning committee before the company will be allowed to start work.
