It has been revealed that James Bond’s legendary car maker Aston Martin is on the lookout for space in Birmingham for a major manufacturing site and its headquarters.

According to the Birmingham Post, Aston Martin is looking in the Sutton Coldfield area for its developments, with interest already sparked in 40 hectares of land at Peddimore.
This is one of three sites that the firm are considering and if it gets the go ahead, 600 jobs are expected to be as well as thousands in the supply chain for the building of a new SUV.
As part of the deal, it is claimed that the manufacturer is also considering a relocation of its headquarters to Sutton Coldfield, moving from its current base in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
A source close to the deal commented: “They have been round Peddimore and they love it but there is still a long way to go.
“The council has put a lot of work into a green belt site and they want to be sure to get the right deal.”
MP Andrew Mitchell is understood to have had a series of meetings with Aston Martin about the proposed move.
Birmingham was voted as the ideal location for investors in the UK and sixth in Europe.
Mr Mitchell, adds: “This is an extremely important development for Sutton Coldfield. And they are looking at it with excitement and enthusiasm.”
However at this stage, according to a spokesperson for Aston Martin, it was “pure speculation” and no definite decision has been made on Birmingham being the choice, as other areas outside UK are also being investigated.
He says the firm “continues to assess a number of sites for the production of the new DBX Crossover, both here in the UK and abroad. An announcement on a preferred location will be made in due course.”
Other areas considered include the former Jaguar site in Browns Lane, Coventry, along with South Wales, Corby and Alabama, US.
Birmingham City Council sees Peddimore as a key site for an employment boost, with 80 hectares from the green belt been given the go-ahead to release.
Aston Martin recently showcased its DB10 model that was built specifically for Spectre, the box office smash 24th entry into the Bond franchise.
