The Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) has today launched its drive to attract world class tenants with the release of a series of images offering the first glimpse of the stunning new office space which will be available for occupation in 2019.
The 42 acre riverside district will provide 1,250,000 sq ft of lettable office space alongside shops, boutiques, restaurants, hotels, an urban food hall and a 2,000 capacity event space. Occupiers will also be able to enjoy a number of leisure facilities including the 6 acre Riverfront Park.
The centrepiece of the development will, of course, be the restored Sir Giles Gilbert Scott designed Power Station itself, which features 470,000 sq ft of office space on its six upper floors and in the central Boiler House area.
These 80,000 sq ft floor plates will be constructed around a glass central atrium measuring 80 metres long by 20 metres wide and 26 metres high. Original and new exposed brickwork will provide a nod to the industrial heritage of the 1930’s building which has stood empty since 1983.
The office space has been designed by Wilkinson Eyre and The Rockwell Group while renowned landscape and garden designer Andy Sturgeon is working alongside site-wide landscape architects LDA Design to create The Sky Garden on the roof of Switch House East. This will be accessible to all office staff in the Power Station and will provide outdoor ‘boxes’ for meetings.
Transport to and from the site will be enhanced by the Northern Line extension which is scheduled to open in 2020 enabling travel to the City and the West End in under 15 minutes. A Riverbus connection is also planned with piers along the length of the Thames.
CEO of BPSDC, Rob Tinknell said: “The Power Station is at the heart of this new urban quarter for London and offers businesses a very special opportunity to relocate.
“For over fifty years the Power Station was a hard-working engine room of London and we have designed its upper floors to be a power house of the future with state-of-the-art work and shared spaces to fuel imaginations.
“With new transport links and a whole host of exciting retail and leisure opportunities on the doorstep, the Power Station will be London’s most exciting destination and we are seeking the best possible partners to join our community.”
CBRE and Knight Frank have been appointed office agents.
