The MIPIM property real estate conference event is being held in Cannes from 13th to the 16th March 2018 this year. Along with over 360 speakers, the event will showcase around £10 billion worth of investment opportunities from across the Midlands region in England.

After a successful presence at the MIPIM 2017, there will be over 70 public and private sector partners coming together from across the Midlands to represent the region in Cannes. Though this is the second year that the Midlands area has worked together with the MIPIM in a bid to attract new investment from around the world, this will also be the largest delegation that Midlands UK have taken to the annual event.

In total there is expected to be around 24,000 people attending the MIPIM this year, which will include property professionals from more than 100 countries, including developers, investors and agents. The international audience drawn by MIPIM should give the Midlands region plenty of opportunities to attract any potential investors.

The Midlands effort will be managed by the West Midlands Growth Company whose popular partners include Jaguar, Rover and Birmingham and East Midlands airports.

Sir John Peace, the Chairman of the Midlands Engine, a group which describes itself as the ‘heartbeat of Britain’s economy’ had this to say:

“The Midlands UK delegation will show the world the region is open for business.

“We are confident about the future and are ready to build on the Midlands commercial and trading history.

“Where else can you find one of the fastest growing regions in the world, sitting at the heart of one of the world’s largest economies, with a bed of skills and infrastructure in which to grow your business.

“By working together, Midlands UK will promote the region to investors and trade partners – delivering more growth, exports, jobs, and a better quality of life for those living in the region.”

The strong representation for the Midlands and England at the MIPIM event can only be a positive sign for the Midlands property market in 2018, and it will be interesting to see what response the event garners.
