One of the largest car parts firms in the Midlands and Yorkshire areas, Motormania entered administration last week after struggling sales.

The firm which was established 25 years ago has 17 commercial properties in Mansfield, Shrewsbury and Burton on Trent, to name a few plus a distribution centre in Derby. The company currently employees 92 members of staff across its portfolio of stores.

Speaking of the administration, the company published a statement on their website: “The affairs, business and property of Richard C. Hartley Limited trading as Motormania, Midland Car Parts and Elliotts Autostore are being managed by D Bennett and P Addison, appointed as joint administrators on 18 May 2012.”

“The joint administrators act as agents of the Company and contract without personal liability. D Bennett and P Addison are insolvency practitioners licensed by the Insolvency Practitioners Association.”

The administrators are currently seeking a buyer for Motormania, which reported pre-tax profits of £44,000 and sales of £5 million during 2009.

D Bennett, one of the joint administrators, said: “Motormania and Midland Car Parts are long-established businesses with a strong reputation in the market place.

“We are continuing to trade the businesses with a view to selling them as going concerns and are currently in discussions with a number of interested parties.”
