Start-ups in the British food and drink sector are being invited to take part in a trade mission to Dublin, to try and gain connections with Irish importers.
Organisers of the event, small business support group Enterprise Nation, is looking to encourage British traders to export into new markets and see what our neighbours are doing.
The trip takes place from 10 to 11 March and will give 40 food manufacturing and supply firms an opportunity to access digital marketing techniques which are tailored to the Irish market. They will get to have a face-to-face trade matching event with Irish importers and businesses, as well as a visit to big Irish brands inkling Diageo.
Ten of the places will be awarded with the Grocery Accelerator, which is a share of £360,000 worth of equity investments, which is currently recruiting its third cohort.
Founder of Enterprise Nation, Emma Jones, commented: “Ireland is on our doorstep, shares the same time zones – and is experiencing an impressive economic recovery – with more than 6% growth in GDP in the first three months of last year.
“There are strong trade links already established with a particular focus on food, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for the smallest firms to pick up advice and build solid Irish contacts to boost confidence and sales. As a first taste of the export world, Ireland is an ideal place to start.”
