After recently acquiring the building, family owned property company Bruntwood has submitted a planning application to Birmingham City Council for the £14 million redevelopment of Two Cornwall Street in the Colmore Business District.
The plans, designed by Glenn Howells Architects, will provide approximately 110,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and include a double height reception area, rooftop terrace and a private basement car park.
The head of Bruntwood’s Birmingham office, Rob Valentine, said “This redevelopment will be completed at a crucial time for the Birmingham office market-when a likely surge in interest from occupiers looking to position themselves within the city’s business community will coincide with a lack of available high quality office accommodation”.
He added that, with open floor plates of up to 13,750 sq ft, Two Cornwall Street will suit either a sole occupier or multiple businesses looking for well located, high quality office accommodation in Birmingham.
Michelle Wilby, executive director of the Colmore Business District, welcomed the news, saying that Birmingham’s growing reputation as a global city makes it important that they are able to provide the space for businesses looking to relocate there.
“Bruntwood has a track record in delivering great business space and its plans to bring Two Cornwall Street back into commercial use can only be good news for Birmingham and the Colmore Businesss District,” she said.
