With demand for business units going through the roof in Flintshire Wales, one industrial park is planning to offer a much needed supply for businesses requiring space.
Deeside Industrial Park, which is owned by Dandy’s, is planning to build 18 new units on its land at a cost of £3 million. The units would be built on a six acre site and range from 3,000 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft. in size. In addition to new units, the owners also plan to create jobs as Adam Dandy, Managing Director of Dandy’s said.
“We’re trying to meet that demand by putting forward these plans and everyone is being very supportive.
“I think it would be fair to say it would create ten jobs per unit, so there’s potential here for at least 180 jobs, possibly several hundred.”
Deeside Industrial Park was acquired in 1994 and has since undergone a major refurbishment and improvement programme. The park which expands over five million sq. ft. is one of the largest industrial parks in Wales. Businesses that currently occupy units at the park include TNT, Convatec, Toyota, Great Bear and TI Automotive Systems.
So what will the 18 new units bring to the industrial park? Askar Sheibani, the Deeside Industrial Park Forum Chairman believes they will be ideal for “for smaller and medium sized businesses.”
He continued: “It’s particularly welcome that the 18 units being proposed will be for smaller and medium sized businesses. We have carried out a survey and it’s clear that we don’t have enough high quality units to attract more businesses to the area.
“A lot of work has been put in to promoting Deeside Industrial Park enterprise zone internationally and this has attracted a high level of inquiries, but we need to ensure that enough space is available.”
