Coast to Coast American Restaurant & Bar has joined the growing restaurant line-up at the £20 million leisure extension at intu Potteries.
Coast to Coast, part of The Restaurant Group, brings the cuisine and tastes from the length of the Lincoln Highway, which spans the United States from New York to San Fransisco. It has signed a 25 year lease for a 6,000 sq ft stand-alone unit on the pedestrian boulevard at the Stoke-on-Trent city centre destination.
“We’re excited about bringing authentic Coast to Coast American dishes and original US memorabilia showcased on the walls of our new restaurant,” said Jonny Buckle, head of leisure acquisitions at the Restaurant Group.
“intu Potteries is a well-established centre for the region with impressive visitor numbers giving a great opportunity for us to delight more customers. We will lift their spirits and make them smile.”
Coast to Coast is the sixth restaurant to agree terms for space in the 60,000 sq ft extension following earlier deals with Nando’s, PizzaExpress, GBK, and Frankie & Benny’s. The extension will also house a nine screen Cineworld cinema.
The six towns of Stoke-on-Trent, together with the neighbouring town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, have the 12th highest population in the UK. This provides Intu Potteries with an 850,000 catchment which includes a high student population from the nearby Staffordshire and Keele universities. Consequently, around 20 per cent of the annual 12 million footfall is aged between 16 and 24.
Speaking about the latest restaurant deal, Martin Breeden, regional director of intu, said: “We are giving plenty of reasons for our customers to visit more often and stay for longer.
“By the end of this year, they will be able to shop at more than 80 major retailers, watch a movie and enjoy a meal in a family-friendly restaurant.”
intu plans to invest £1.2 billion in its shopping centres over the next ten years with projects scheduled for most locations. The restaurant and leisure extension at intu Potteries is due to open this autumn.
