Stobart Developments is responsible for the project management of an extensive development which is currently underway in Widnes. The first phase, which includes a chilled warehouse and a Recycling Services Unit, was completed in just twelve months. The land, which was overdue for re-development, has been transformed and regenerated into profitable use.
The development was actively supported by local government and planning consent. A subsequent application has now also been approved for a further 150,000 square foot extension to the main warehouse. A 20,000 square foot Vehicle Maintenance Unit is in place.
Stobart Developments selected this land for re-development, due to the ideal location of Stobart Port’s inland Mersey Multimodal Gateway railhead and container port. Upon completion, it will increase the warehousing capacity to around seven million square feet. The location is desirable due to the motorway links of the M62 and M56, which provide easy access to the West Coast Main Line, The Manchester Ship Canal and River Mersey and the port of Liverpool.
It is great to see commercial property redevelopment on derelict land on former the Brownfield sites. it is and will continue being transformed in to profitable use, whilst creating an imortant source of jobs., in this area of the Northwest.
The desirable location makes this perfect for a transport hub.
