David Beckham has signed a deal with international leisure group and property developer Las Vegas Sands according to women’s magazine Marie Claire.

Beckham joins artist Damien Hirst and former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville among the growing number of celebrities entering property development.

In this case, it is understood that Beckham will act as a consultant and partner in luxury resorts in Singapore and Macao. Described as a ‘tastemaker,’ the former England captain will be involved in developing the growth of restaurant, retail and leisure concepts.

“The Sands team has created amazing resorts in Singapore and Macau,” Beckham said in a statement.

“The scale, vision and calibre in all that they do is impressive. I am very excited to be working with them to develop a range of new business ideas in a part of the world that I love spending time in and is full of optimism and growth.”

Las Vegas Sands say they have billions of dollars invested in their global operations and that they understand the value of growing and sustaining the brand, which they are confident Beckham will help them achieve.

President and chief operating officer, Michael Leven added that he expects the partnership with Beckham to grow over the coming years as the company expands its presence in Asia.
