A new business district is being launched west of Beijing, offering commercial and office space at competitive prices.
Developers are hopeful that the area will become an important business hub in the same manner as Financial Street and the Central Business District.
Chang’an Center will be located on a large industrial site which was previously occupied by the state-owned Shougang Group, 18.5 kilometres west of the city centre.
The area will cover 8.6 square kilometres, and developers hope to attract internet companies, finance houses, culture and entertainment companies.
Similar development ideas are being considered in other submarkets in the city, including Liangmaqiao, Wangjing and Yizhuang but none of the projects are on the same scale as the Chang’an site.
