Many people spend their time browsing eBay for bargains. After all it’s so easy to find products you want, buy them using PayPal, and wait for them to be delivered to your door. But for so many of us, that is where the joy stops!
More than likely you will be at work or out and about when the parcel arrives. So instead of being greeted by your shopping, you will find a sorry we missed you card with the options to redeliver or collect the item later. But eBay are currently trialling a new service that could put an end to finding those cards on your doorstep.
In collaboration with Argos, eBay will offer a click and collect service meaning you can pick up your eBay purchases from an Argos store. The trial will involve 150 Argos shops throughout the country and around 50 eBay sellers. If it is a success it will be rolled out to more stores and more members.
Speaking of the trial, the President of eBay, Devin Wenig, said: “We’re proud to join Argos on this journey. Their unique store network and operating model is fit for serving customers in a digital future.
“This exciting pilot takes us one step nearer to our goal of offering customers an inspired and seamless shopping experience.”
Argos has been offering a click and collect service in its stores for 13 years and says it accounts for a third of all sales. John Walden, managing director of the company expects the need for this service to keep growing and growing.
He said: “With the continuing growth of online shopping, customers increasingly expect faster, cheaper and more convenient fulfilment of their orders.
“eBay, an innovator in digital and leading online marketplace connecting sellers and consumers, is already a strong partner with Argos and a logical partner for the trial.”
