In an open letter which was published in 28 European Member states newspaper, the French President Emmanuel Macron has called on the EU states to avert another Brexit situation.

With the European Elections in May, Mr Marcon’s concerns is there could be strong serge of populist and Eurosceptic parties securing several important seats.

The French President has talked up an opportunity for a “European renaissance.,” as the Brexit crisis symbolizes a “Europe that has failed to respond to its peoples’ need for protection from the major shocks of the modern world.”

Mr Marcon’s proposals which are laid out in his open letter to Europe include; EU minimum wage, European Climate Bank, European Agency for the Protection of Democracies, European Council for Internal Security, A European food safety force and A Conference for Europe.

The hope is with these proposals they will tackle the concerns which give the populist and Eurosceptic parties across Europe momentum. In other words, giving people across Europe “back control of their future[s].”

In France, the President has recently faced his own country’s unrest from the Gilets Jaune movement, after he won against Marine Le Pen who is still an advocate for a vote on French European membership.

Mr Macron’s letters come as the Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay and Attorney General Geoffrey Cox visit Brussels in the latest bid to win changes to the Brexit agreement.
