The hospitality arm of London-based property company Dominvs Group has unveiled plans to build three hotels north of the border.
Founded in 2011 by Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, the millionaire entrepreneur behind Euro Car Parts, Dominvs intends to build two hotels in Aberdeen and is about to close a deal to purchase a site in Edinburgh.
Both Aberdeen developments will be situated close to the city’s international airport. They will create 170 jobs and are expected to be operating by early 2016.
“There are fantastic hospitality opportunities in Scotland for a company that does its homework and invests carefully,” explained Preet Ahluwalia, a director of Dominvs Hospitality. “We hope to capitalise on that and continue to expand in Scotland in the coming years.”
“Aberdeen is a leading business hub and one of eight ‘super cities’ spearheading the UK’s economy,” added Ahluwalia, “the acquisition and development of this site is part of our plan to open strategically located branded hotels in key UK cities. Aberdeen was high on our priority list and the location and size of this site is ideal.”
Dominvs Hospitality acquired the Hotelier Group last year along with a property in Dumfries and two in England. After a £400,000 refurbishment the hotel in Dumfries was opened in November by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.
“(That project) is going from strength to strength, especially with Marco Pierre White’s first Scottish restaurant within the hotel,” said Ahluwalia. “We are committed to Scotland and we are now in the final stages of negotiations to secure a site in Edinburgh.”
The hospitality division also recently acquired a landmark Manchester site adjacent to Piccadilly station and plans to build a four-star, 306-bedroom hotel, restaurant and conference facility on the site which is scheduled to be completed in 2015.
“This is an important and significant development and the hotel will become a vital element of the fast growing international attraction for Manchester with its increasing stature as a major European City,” said Preet Ahluwalia.
Dominvs Group has a £280 million commercial, residential and hospitality portfolio across the UK. Alongside hotels the portfolio includes offices, industrial property and warehouses in locations including Banbury, Blackburn, Hertfordshire and Central London.
