This weekend provides the last opportunity for shoppers to catch Manchester’s world famous Christmas Markets. Now in its 15th year, the annual array of over 300 stalls has become a hugely popular destination that has put the city firmly on the festive shopping map.
The stalls are spread over nine locations throughout the city centre, with each offering its own unique atmosphere. The goods on sale range from a huge selection of mouth-watering foods to jewellery and clothes. The locations are;
Albert Square| Brazennose Street| King Street| St Ann’s Square| Exchange Street| New Cathedral Street| Exchange Square| Corn Exchange| Corporation Street
All will be in full swing today and over the weekend with the exception of Corporation Street which closes on Saturday.
This year the Christmas Markets are bigger than ever allowing visitors to pick up gifts for family and friends or treat themselves to tempting delicacies from all over Europe. These include everything from French breads and Dutch cheeses to Hungarian goulash and Spanish paella. Afterwards it can be washed down with a glass of overseas beer or a warming hot chocolate.
Strolling around the chalet-lined market streets is guaranteed to get visitors in the festive spirit and ready to explore all the great shops, pubs and bars in Manchester city centre. In fact it’s not too late to book a hotel and make a weekend of it. After all, everyone deserves a Christmas treat.
