Glamorous is taking a 1,900 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease on the upper mall, where it will join existing tenants Lipsy, Claire’s Accessories, Jack Wills, Schuh, Jack & Jones, Top Shop and Next.

Glamorous specialises in offering unique and stylish clothing aimed at the fashion focused woman who wants great quality styles at affordable prices. The retailer currently partners some of the best names in global fashion, including Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom, Peek & Cloppenburg and Galeries Lafayette.

According to the RetailVision Rankings, intu Trafford Centre is the top shopping centre outside London. The destination boasts many of the biggest names in the retail sector, such as Selfridges, Debenhams, John Lewis and River Island. However, the addition of Glamorous highlights the importance of independent stores to the overall tenant mix at the 1.9 million sq ft centre.

Darren Fraser, head of retail at Glamorous said: “Previously, Glamorous had traded only through retail channels based in the UK such as House of Fraser, Next, Top Shop and ASOS.

“This will be the first retail unit for Glamorous and, since we are a Manchester-based company, intu Trafford Centre is the perfect place to open a shop. It has high footfall and attracts customers from across the North West region.”

Further underlining the importance of independent retailers to the occupier line-up is the relocation and upsizing of fellow fashion retailer Elvis Jesus to a new 1,100 sq ft space.

Described as ‘embracing a rock ‘n’ roll philosophy born out of counter culture musings’, the Elvis Jesus store also features independent brands Religion and Luke, adding to the comprehensive choice available to fashion conscious customers at intu Trafford Centre.

Julian Wilkinson, Regional Director of intu, believes that the wide retail mix at intu Trafford Centre is drawing consumers to the destination from further afield and helping occupiers to grow their businesses.

“Customers love the choice available at intu Trafford Centre,” he said. “With over 230 shops and restaurants plus an array of leisure attractions, we are attracting customers to travel from further and stay for longer, allowing our retailers’ businesses to flourish.

“Customers love the mix between top international; brands and local, entrepreneurial, independent stores that offer their own styles and approach.”

intu has invested to make  its shopping centres the most digitally connected in the UK, providing a seamless online and offline experience. This includes free wifi and 4G connectivity at intu Trafford Centre, allowing customers to take advantage of the strong multi-channel offerings now available from many retailers, including Glamorous, Elvis Jesus, Religion and Luke.
