Government in Surprise London Property Deal

Here at Movehut we aim to bring you the latest news from the commercial property industry and today we begin with an exclusive story.

For several years now London’s O2 Arena has taken up valuable land on the Greenwich Peninsula in South East London, having become something of a final resting place for fairly unknown bands such as Metallica and Bon Jovi.

While ticket sales may have managed to surpass those of Madison Square Gardens and the MEN Arena, it is widely regarded as a failing venue and most would agree a re-launch is long overdue.

As a result we can reveal that the Government has finally bowed to public pressure and later this year they will purchase the property in order to bring back the popular Millennium Dome.

Adored by the press and overrun with visitors on its public opening on the 1st January 2000, the Millennium Dome is truly one of the stand-out successes in the field of British entertainment.

It was with a mixture of sadness and disbelief that the public learned that the Dome, and the accompanying Millennium Exhibition, would close only a year after its initial unveiling.

No one is entirely sure why this happened. With installations explaining “who we are”, “what we do” and “where we live”, the exhibition was both an essential educational experience and a breathtaking spectacle for visitors for all ages.

Furthermore with the seamless financial planning and bafflingly low running costs, not to mention the faultless management of the property and its contents, it was undoubtedly the pinnacle of inventiveness and organisation.

The news that this highlight of British ingenuity will soon make a glorious return is naturally being kept very much under wraps. However, Movehut did manage to question a Government insider – who shall remain nameless…ish.

Mr Johnson said; “It’s a terribly exciting project and I am delighted to be involved.

“I think the whole thing will be splendid – provided, of course, that we can get Tony Blair and Peter Mandelson onboard.”

Rumours that the Queen will once more thrill crowds with her Olympic sky diving act are, as yet, unconfirmed. However we understand that, since the announcement that the Rolling Stones are to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival, international superstars Steps are being lined up for the opening night instead.

Did you originally visit the Millennium Dome (perhaps on April Fool’s Day?) in 2000, or will you be eagerly anticipating your first visit later this year?
