Hammerson has announced that three top restaurants have agreed terms to join its new £70 million Southampton WestQuay Watermark development, with each restaurant making their debut within the city.
The restaurants, which will take occupation of space on the upper level of the development, are:
These deals come after Showcase Cinema De Lux announced back in August last year that they would be opening a cinema in the South as part of the development. The 10 screen digital cinema will be the core part of WestQuay Watermark.
This development has been deemed Southampton’s new city centre leisure hub, providing a new dining and leisure destination. It is the main part of Southampton City Council’s VIP ‘Heart of the City’ project and was given £7 million from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
Everyone in involved in the deal is positive about this new endeavour, as Head of Restaurants and Leisure at Hammerson, Sarah Fox, said “There is a real opportunity for the development to attract restaurant brands which are new to the city and provide strong appeal for customers further afield”.
Peter Brunton, Byron’s Operations Director shares the same enthusiasm, saying “We’re delighted to be making our debut in Southampton as part of such a landmark development for the city”.
Mr Brunton went on to say that he has been looking to bring “proper hamburgers” to his home town since the business opened seven years ago. Now with the new development, this is the best time.
Group Head of Acquisitions at Gondola Restaurants Limited, said “Zizzi are delighted to have secured a site in this exciting development”, adding that they have targeted Southampton for a while now.
WestQuay Watermark is due to open in autumn 2016.
