In celebration and support of the graduating fine art students at the Wimbledon College of Art, representatives of serviced office provider Landmark Plc attended the Wimbledon Summer Shows at University of the Arts London. Already in their third year of sponsoring the event, on this occasion Landmark also gave a select number of students the opportunity to showcase their work in a commercial property that’s one of the most exclusive and prestigious in London: Heron Tower, opening imminently.
Although art and business are not the most obvious of bedfellows, Landmark has realised the commercial appeal of adorning the clinical sterility of the corporate canvas with a creative and inspiring visual edge. And with an art collection of over four hundred original pieces currently on display across Landmark’s four serviced London offices it’s somewhat fitting that their fifth commercial property acquisition, one of the most prominent and daring recent developments in London, is to be decorated with exciting new pieces from talented artists working in the city that influences them.
The tallest building in the UK (before the Shard of Glass cuts even further into the atmosphere), Heron Tower is considerably more than a foundation upon which a career may be built – reputations have been launched from much less. And, with the eyes of the commercial property market focused on the site, the chosen artists have a unique opportunity to display their work on the world’s most magnified and monolithic easel. George Blacklock, Dean of Wimbledon College of Art, has expressed thanks for the opportunities offered by Landmark, stating ‘we are very grateful for [their] continued support of our graduating Fine Art students as they launch into their professional lives’.
Commercial property owners across the country take note – the young talents in our art world are waiting for just the right walls to showcase their masterpieces on.
