intu has created on-site asset management roles at Manchester Arndale and Cribbs Causeway, which are both jointly owned and managed with M&G Real Estate.
David Scholes (pictured above) will be based at the 1.6 million sq ft Manchester Arndale which is ranked fourth in CACI’s retail footprint.
The city centre retail and leisure destination has a catchment of 6.7 million and enjoys an annual footfall of 42 million, with over 55 per cent classified as ABC1. The centre is anchored by Next, with Superdry, River Island, Hollister and Apple among the other leading brands.
Scholes has over 10 years’ experience in all sectors of the commercial property market. Prior to joining intu, he held positions at NCP, DTZ and Sanderson Weatherall, focusing on landlord and tenant together with commercial valuations. Scholes holds a BSc in Property Management & Investment and qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2007.
Greg Wilson (pictured below) is intu’s new on-site asset manager for The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, South West England’s premier shopping destination.
The Mall provides over 1 million sq ft of retail, catering and leisure space and is jointly owned by intu, M&G Real Estate and TJ Bayliss. The centre is anchored by Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, with BHS, H&M and Top Shop among the leading brands featuring in the 142-strong tenant line-up. Around 76 per cent of the 12 million annual footfall, from a catchment of 4.7 million, is ABC1.
Wilson joins intu from Workman LLP, where he is an associate specialising in shopping centres and retail parks. Prior to this he worked as a surveyor with Rapleys after gaining an MSc in Estate Management from London South Bank University. Wilson, who also spent a spell as an intern at Knight Frank, qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2010, with a focus on management, rating, professional advisory and agency.
Julian Wilkinson, regional director of intu, believes the on-site asset manager roles will prove beneficial to both assets. “Manchester Arndale and The Mall at Cribbs Causeway are both top 20 shopping centres in the UK,” he said.
“Working with our partners, our focus is to further strengthen the tenant mix at both centres. By having asset teams on site, it means we can really get under the skin of the assets and their catchments, and bring specialist regional expertise and knowledge.”
