Property professionals attending the International Festival for Business, which opens today, will have the opportunity to take in three events over 36 hours. Scheduled speakers include Liz Peace, chief executive of the British Property Federation (BPF), Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson (pictured, right) and the chief executive of Manchester City Council Sir Howard Bernstein.
The former Lord Mayor of the City of London, Sir Michael Bear, will also be in attendance at the conference, as well as Chris Oglesby, the chief executive of Bruntwood, one of the North West’s biggest commercial property owners.
The conference will focus on the connection between business growth and the property sector and the theme of the event is “How do we rebalance the UK economy?”
The debate is coming at an important time, since the differences between London and the rest of the UK are becoming more evident, simultaneously creating a challenges and opportunities for investors and developers.
Mayor Anderson and Sir Howard Bernstein have appeared at the same event on more than one occasion this year. Both of them participated in a discussion of greater co-operation between Liverpool and Manchester at the MIPIM international property festival, which was held in Cannes in March.
Matthew Battle of UK Property Forums said the festival is attracting visitors from various points across the globe, including visitors from China, surpassing expectations of overseas interest and investment.
The conference is supported by the UK Trade & Investments, the BPF and the BCC Link to China.
