Two leading international fashion brands have added to the luxury offer in Portsmouth after signing leasing deals with Land Securities’ premium retail destination Gunwharf Quays. Meanwhile another has significantly expanded its presence at the outlet.
British menswear brand Hackett London made its debut on the South Coast when it opened the doors of its new 2,940 sq ft store (pictured above) on 21 July.
Commenting on the move Chairman Jeremy Hackett said: “Gunwharf Quays’ universal appeal to a burgeoning number of tourists and a unique, curated, mix of brands highlights the desire for the Hackett brand to open a store.
“We are extremely excited to offer our luxury ranges of men’s formal and casualwear to such a large and enthusiastic catchment.”
Hackett will shortly be joined at Gunwharf Quays by American luxury lifestyle brand Michael Kors, which has signed a lease for a 3,669 sq ft unit opposite Ted Baker.
The new store, which is scheduled to open its doors on 3 September, will showcase the full range of the brand’s clothing, shoes, fragrances, cosmetics and accessories.
In addition to these new arrivals, Polo Ralph Lauren unveiled its significantly expanded store (pictured below) on 13 August. The new 16,739 sq ft unit is more than double the size of the brand’s previous outlet, where demand for Polo Ralph Lauren’s men’s women’s and children’s collections led to queues of customers.
Together the three lettings total 23,348 sq ft and strengthen an already strong occupier line-up of over 90 retailers, including Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, All Saints, Diesel, Ugg and Lacoste.
Gunwharf Quays also boasts a wide selection of restaurants and bars, a multi-plex cinema, bowling alley, art gallery, gym, casino and a hotel.
Jack Busby, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, said: “The addition of such prestigious brands as Michael Kors and Hackett reinforces Gunwharf Quays’ status as the leading premium retail outlet in the UK, while Polo Ralph Lauren’s major upsizing is a huge demonstration of our consumer pull and attraction here.
“These new tenants represent a significant investment from some of the world’s top premium brands to be part of a hugely successful, forward-thinking outlet.”
KLM and Head Retail represented Gunwharf Quays. Michael Horwitz & Co acted for Hackett London and Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Polo Ralph Lauren.
