Curzon has signed for a 21,690 sq ft, 5-screen cinema, which will be situated in a dramatically designed building above the South Square. The arthouse chain will employ stunning Sony 4k digital projection to bring a new cinematic experience to the city.

Award winning American fashion brand Michael Kors has taken 2,217 sq ft for a flagship store showcasing its premium range of women’s fashion to Oxford shoppers.

The best in class brands join a growing line-up, including Next and John Lewis, heading for the 800,000 sq ft development where construction is due to commence early next year.

The deals demonstrate the appeal of both the scheme and the location to international retail and leisure operators.

The development – a collaboration between five architectural practices – will deliver a modern, innovative city centre destination complementing its historic setting, while the university city has an affluent catchment, supplemented by over 9 million visitors per year.

Welcoming the new additions to the tenant line-up, Bert Martin, Development Director at the Westgate Alliance, said: “We are creating a world-class retail and leisure destination that will ensure Oxford’s shopping and dining offer is synonymous with its world-renowned heritage status.

“Securing Curzon Cinemas and Michael Kors demonstrates the Westgate Alliance’s ability to bring together the very best retail and leisure offer in the city.”

Mel Alcock, Chief Operating Officer of Curzon, believes the cinema and Westgate Oxford are a perfect fit. “We are extremely excited to be bringing our state-of-the-art, unique offer to such an exciting scheme and to be working with such forward-thinking, ambitious landlords as the Westgate Alliance. Westgate Oxford provides the ideal location and audience for our brand,” he said.

CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield act as joint retail leasing agents for Westgate Alliance, while Davis Coffer Lyons acts as the food and beverage leasing agent. Westgate Oxford is scheduled for completion in autumn 2017.
