In spite of concerns regarding the oversupply of office space, commercial property in Malaysia continues to offer lucrative returns to investors.
According to investment professional Renesial Leong, commercial property offers a return of 5-7 per cent. This rate is higher than the average return of 3-5 per cent for residential property.
According to a recent report issued by Knight Frank Malaysia, foreign investors are likely to switch to the commercial property market as soon as the country enforces a number of cooling measures to moderate increasing housing prices.
It also predicted that investors will be very interested in taking advantage of good deals before the goods and services tax comes into effect in April next year.
The shift is already taking place, as investors who are familiar with residential property look towards commercial property for better returns.
Ms. Leong, who has been called Asia’s queen of property, will be one of the speakers at the upcoming Property Outlook Conference in 2014. The two-day conference, which begins tomorrow, will feature several professionals and property experts who will share their insights and approaches on a number of wealth-building strategies and techniques.
