MEPC lands Second Major High-Tech pre-let at Milton Park

One of Europe’s largest business park owners has signed a pre-let deal to build the new UK headquarters of a North American ATM products and service provider.

Work is expected to start within weeks on the offices for DC Payments — whose cash machines are installed in more 6,000 banks and high street and licensed premises across the UK — at the MEPC-owned Milton Park in Oxfordshire.

The UK division of DC Payments employs around 60 staff at two Abingdon sites. These will be brought together at the 18,500 sq ft facility when it is completed early next year.

Although the terms of the pre-let have not been disclosed, the Brook Drive building will have two floors of office space and a high quality engineering, manufacturing and testing workshop. “Our new bespoke building at Milton Park will be a superb place for our customers to visit and our staff to work,” said Tim Wilder, managing director of DC Payments.

The ATM provider has operations in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand managing 20,000-plus machines around the world processing millions of transactions every week.

Located within an enterprise zone, plans for the new building were approved in line with the Milton Park Local Development Order, a simplified planning process designed to significantly speed up decision making to drive economic development.

Milton Park, which MEPC began developing more than a quarter of a century ago, is one of the company’s biggest estates with 250 on-site businesses. “By having such a large and eclectic variety of companies and individuals we are creating an environment that is inclusive, as well as exclusive,” Dipple added.

Last autumn, more than 200 people from Crowcon Detection Instruments, the gas detection specialist, relocated into a 40,000 sq ft purpose built headquarters at 172 Brook Drive at Milton Park.

And earlier this month South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse councils signed a four-year lease for offices at Milton Park after their headquarters in nearby Crowmarsh Gifford were gutted by a January arson attack. A 47-year-old man has admitted starting the fire which caused £20m worth of damage.
