The U.S. Bank Plaza in Minneapolis has received LEED Gold certification. Real Estate firm Hines made the announcement about the designation received from the U.S. Green Building Council under the Existing Buildings Rating System.
The Class A office towers are located in the heart of the city’s Central Business District, and were designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The 22 and 40-storey towers were completed in 1981 and offer a total of over one million sq ft of rentable space.
There are several green features incorporated into the design at U.S. Bank Plaza, including:
Hines is offering a Green Office for Tenants programme. It gives tenants options to help them reduce their carbon footprint.
U.S. Bank Plaza has also been awarded the Energy Star label each year since 2001. The average U.S. office building is 54 per cent more energy efficient; the Bank Plaza building’s current rating is 95 per cent.
The building’s current tenants include Ernst & Young, Henson & Efron, Fredrikson & Byron, CliftonLarsonAllen, Grant Thornton, and U. S. Bank.
They contributed to the new certification by increasing their recycling, tracking green purchases, and completing transportation and comfort surveys.
