Advised by commercial property consultants Naylors, LogicNow considered a number of Newcastle city centre buildings before opting for a 2,284 sq ft office suite within the Metnor-owned property located on Trafalgar Street.

LogicNow supplies more than 12,000 managed service providers and IT support companies with its integrated management platforms. The service allows the remote monitoring and management of on-site computer facilities combined with the capacity to integrate email security and cloud backup and recovery.

The company — which has global offices across Europe, North America and Australia — already has a base in Edinburgh. “The new office space in Newcastle will provide the ideal location for LogicNow’s continued expansion,” said the high-tech firm’s senior vice-president of engineering, Stephen Garland.

“With a reputation for having a strong and vibrant technology scene, Newcastle seemed like the natural choice for the latest addition to our tech hubs.

“We have seen tremendous growth in our business over the last five years fuelled by innovation in our product range,” added Garland. “Our new base at Generator Studios will provide an ideal location from which to drive that growth and we are now looking to expand our data scientist and engineering teams in Newcastle.”

The 40,000 sq ft Generator Studios has received numerous awards for its contemporary design and innovative working spaces. It was conceived as a “new concept working environment” incorporating large open plan offices with high ceilings and natural light.

The main entrance and reception foyer features café facilities that provide break out space from each office and networking opportunities for the tenants which so far include town planning consultancy Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners, marketing consultants Gardiner Richardson, Real Time Claims and Darnton B3 Architecture.

Simon Taylor is head of office agency at Naylors, the North East’s largest independent commercial property consultants. “From our first meeting it was clear that LogicNow required a building that not only offered a good city centre location but also a modern, flexible workspace to accommodate their growth over the next few years,” he explained.

“Generator Studios certainly offers that together with an innovative interior design and the benefit of communal services such as a dedicated staffed reception, meeting rooms and catering facilities.” LogicNow is the scheme’s fifth letting this summer.

The Generator Studios building was originally built to house the generating station for Newcastle’s electric tramway and was converted to offices in 2002. “We are delighted that LogicNow, with the assistance of Naylors, has chosen Generator Studios to establish its presence in the North East,” said Jamie Mableson, senior development manager at Metnor Property Group.
