InterContinental Hotels Group has announced that the Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park, the brand’s new North Carolina location, is now open.

The property was formally the Marriott and has undergone a renovation totaling several million dollars. The update focuses on guest rooms and common areas in the suburban hotel.

The conversion is being funded by MAM-Charlotte Hotel LLC, the property’s new owner. Day-to-day management will be handled by McGlashan Hospitality, an Atlanta-based firm. The hotel is “franchised by an affiliate of IHG.”

The property is located at 5700 Westpark Dr., which is just off Interstate 77. The 297-room hotel is close to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, as well as several corporate offices. With its impressive conference facilities (15,000 sq ft, including 18 superb meeting rooms and a ballroom), the hotel will focus on attracting business travelers.

Gina LaBarre, vice president of Americas Brand Management and Upscale Brands at IHG, said, “Business travelers visiting Charlotte will find that the hotel offers the amenities and services they need to have a productive stay.”

The 18-storey hotel offers a full-service business centre, outdoor dining terrace and bar, full-service Birch Restaurant and Bar, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and an indoor and outdoor pool.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the facility. The hotel is participating in the IHG Green Exchange program, which is the company’s online sustainability tool which was developed to identify ways to increase energy efficiency and decrease resource consumption.

Travelers will also appreciate the Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park’s proximity to major attractions, such as the Bank of America Stadium, the Charlotte International Speedway, and the Carowinds Amusement Park.

The Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park is one of a number of Crowne Plaza properties which are scheduled to open in 2013, including hotels in Baltimore, Detroit, Long Island, and New York.
