Real estate developer Nakeel has announced that it has secured commitments from close to 100 restaurants and shops at The Pointe, its new 1.4 million sq ft waterfront complex currently under construction at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The Pointe will provide a cosmopolitan restaurant offer, with confirmed occupiers including Russo’s Italian Kitchen, Baker & Spice, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Leopold’s of London and Arabic favourite Reem Al Bawadi.

Nakheel will also be opening one of its own food and beverage outlets at The Pointe, adding to the company’s growing number of restaurants and clubs in Dubai.

A wide array of retailers have also agreed terms to take space at the Pointe, including beauty salons, opticians, fashion stores and jewellers.

“The Pointe is set to bring Palm Jumeirah alive with spectacular fountain shows, a beautiful promenade and a huge variety of waterfront spots for dining, shopping and socialising,” said Omar Khoory, Director of Nakheel Retail.

“This vibrant new destination will be a major draw – not only for the island’s residents and tourists but for the wider Dubai too.”

He continued to say that new deals are being signed ‘almost daily’ as more shops, cafes and restaurants take the opportunity to secure space at the development.

The Pointe is scheduled for completion in 2016 and will be accessible by The Palm Monorail, which is connected to the Dubai Metro and the Dubai Tram. It will also be accessible by boat from a number of Palm Jumeirah’s resorts. The site will include a 1,600-space car park.

The project is one of several new developments Nakheel is working on at Palm Jumeirah, including Palm West Beach, The Boardwalk, Nakheel Mall and The Palm Tower.
