With the recent news that unemployment rates have seen a decline, the good news keeps on coming, as an expansion of an industrial estate in Staffordshire will see the creation of an impressive 464 jobs.
The sixteen acre extension of the Hixon Airfield Industrial Estate will see the construction of brand new offices, storage units and warehouses, creating great opportunities for new businesses.
One of its main supporters in the redevelopment, former director at Stafford Rangers football club and politician Roly Tonge, has advised that it will probably be built in phases over time.
According to Mr Tonge, the proposals, which require approval from Stafford Borough Council, include a mixture of office/light industrial, general industrial and storage and distribution facilities. Deputy leader of the Borough Council, Mike Smith, has said that he couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of expansion, adding anything involving creating new jobs is a good thing.
The site was opened in 1942 and used as a training facility for RAF Bomber Command before closing in 1957.
It became an industrial site in the 1970s and currently has two occupiers; EnviroStike, which specialises in adhesives, and aircraft parts supplier Air & Ground Aviation.
If the plans are given the green light, it will be one of the biggest developments in Staffordshire next year.
