Multi-award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has this week begun work on the redevelopment of Stubbs Mill, its latest scheme in Manchester.
Stubbs Mill, a former machine works within the New Islington regeneration area, will be transformed into a 30,000 sq ft flexible canalside workspace in conjunction with construction company Artez Limited.
Much of the original industrial structure will be retained in the new development, which has been designed by Manchester based Sixtwo Architects.
The scheme will bolster Urban Splash’s extensive commercial portfolio, which already comprises over 1 million sq ft of retail, office, leisure and light industrial space.
The company has delivered over 60 mixed-use regeneration schemes throughout the country, including Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, Royal William Yard in Plymouth, Morecombe’s Midland Hotel and the Matchworks in Garston.
Speaking about the Stubbs Mill scheme, Urban Splash director, Nathan Cornish said: “This is an iconic building; its raw industrial features give us an interesting architectural framework and give future occupiers a creative and unique space to work.
“It is another fantastic addition to our rich and diverse commercial portfolio. I’m delighted to be working with Artez on it”.
Along with Stubbs Mill, Urban Splash is currently in the process of delivering the innovative residential hoUSe scheme in New Islington.
“Preparatory work on this site’s been taking place for a few months and now we’re putting the first five homes in place so it’s a really exciting time for us in Manchester,” Cornish added.
The redevelopment of Stubbs Mill is expected to be completed this year.
