It’s that time of year again when children all over the world start writing their lists to Santa in hope of receiving the toys and gifts that they desire. But as we all know, only the ones that have been good all year will get the toys they deserve. But what shops will people be visiting in 2013 and what toys and gifts do children want?
The Toy Retailers Association surveyed a selection of independent buyers which represented 80 per cent of the UK’s toy retailers. They included Argos, Hamley’s, Smyths Toys, The Entertainer, Toys R US, Toymaster and ToyTown. A list was then put together of ‘Dream Toys’ for Christmas 2013.
Some of you may not have heard of some of the toys on the list, but other toys have been around for some time and have simply received a modern update. Toys that made the 2013 Christmas list include:
Speaking of the top toys, Gary Grant Chairman of the Dream Toys committee, said: “Christmas 2013 is set to be a strong year for toys and this is a great Dream Toys list that reflects not only the need for toys to appeal to all budgets and tastes, but also how tech is continuing to increase its influence within toys, from pads and robotic dogs to flying fairies and fish.
“The list perfectly illustrates the innovation, diversity and widespread appeal of toys, whilst acknowledging that parents and families need a variety of price options.”
Why do you think retro toys such as Furby, Monopoly and Lego are so popular again? It’s a similar situation to clothes. With modern updates they can become fashionable again and what every child must have.
Have you been asked by your child for any of the toys mentioned above? Or is your child setting their own trend and doesn’t desire any of the ‘Dream Toys’?
