Does one even need to have a space in a commercial property or a serviced office? That seems like a strange question but let’s think about it. If you spend most of your life on the road then all you would need is some sort of storage at work and probably a part-time office area. What got me thinking about this was a product that I saw called a CarGoDesk. It’s basically a self contained unit that fits onto the passenger seat of any car and is a complete workstation. And I tell you what – it is pretty impressive. So, with this it not only cuts down on the cost of office space but also enhances performance while you are on the road. There is also another cute little invention called the wheeldesk that clips onto your steering wheel to create a desk for a laptop, diary etc. And it comes with a built in solar powered calculator.
Another company called incarPC specialises in installing printers, scanners and copiers into the boot of your car and linking them to a back-of-the-seat computer. Or go a step further with elKapitain, a van-conversion company that will do you a complete office in the back of as van complete with computers, printers, satellite uplink and swivel chairs.
Or you can go the whole hog and lash out £250 000 on a Maybach saloon that come with all of the kit in it, including a fridge.
But in all seriousness, for a relatively small cost you can sort your car out so that you can achieve a quite remarkable increase in on-road productivity and thereby also achieve vast cost savings on office space as well as time that would have been spent travelling to and from the office is now spent travelling to the next client.
