When you go on holiday do you like to switch off from the outside world and spend time enjoying yourself like people used to do before technology took over? Or do you like to update your friends with tweets, statuses and photos of your every move whilst away on holiday? If you are the latter then you may want to visit a beach hotel that has just opened in Majorca.
The Sol Wave House Hotel, located in the party town of Magaluf encourages guests to communicate with other hotel guests and staff members by tweeting them from their personal Twitter accounts. People don’t even have to leave their room to interact as the hotel provides free WiFi to encourage guests to interact via chatting, sending photos or even flirting.
All guests need to do is tweet using the hashtag #SocialWave to interact with other guests who also wish to participate.
However, if that isn’t enough, you can choose to stop in the Twitter Party Suites, which have room for four people to sleep. These suites allow you to tweet the hotel concierges to request room service or to get your mini fridge restocked. Guests also receive a free bottle of cava, VIP sunbeds, 20 per cent off in certain bars and restaurants and a free drink at the hotel’s Twitter party which happens every Friday.
Speaking of the idea behind the Twitter hotel, a concierge for The Sol Wave House Hotel said: “Our main clients are young and social people, who are always looking for new experiences to share with a growing virtual community. With #SocialWave we wanted to meet this aspiration.”
But surely as Twitter is an open channel, anyone can use the hashtag and spoil the idea behind it?
Do you think Twitter hotels are the future? Would you like to be able to meet other guests by using social media or do you prefer to start a conversation around the pool?
