Trinity Leeds hit the jackpot in Las Vegas over the weekend, as the Land Securities shopping centre scooped a prestigious industry award.
The £400 million retail destination was presented with the 2015 Best-of-the-Best VIVA (Vision, Innovation, Value, Achievement) Design Award in recognition of its outstanding architecture, at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) annual RECon Conference on Sunday.
The VIVA Awards are presented to globally notable shopping centres that excel in terms of Design and Development, Sustainability, Marketing and Community Service. The shortlist is comprised solely of the ICSC Global Awards’ gold medal winners from the previous year.
Trinity Leeds earned its automatic place on the elite shortlist after winning the gold medal in the ICSC’s Best New Development in the Large Retail Projects category in 2014.
The destination provides a world-class retail environment in the heart of Leeds city centre, and has acted as a catalyst for the resurgence of the local retail market since its opening in March 2013.
The centre’s exceptional retail and leisure offer includes many international brands, which make Trinity Leeds one of the top three retail venues in the UK. Among the leading occupiers are Superdry, KIKO Milano, D&D London and DKNY Mens.
Speaking about receiving the ICSC award, Lester Hampson, Head of Retail Development at Land Securities, said: “Winning the VIVA Best-of-the Best Award validates the commitment Land Securities has to providing truly standout shopping experiences.
“Two years on, Trinity Leeds upholds its reputation as an industry-leading shopping centre. Pioneering digital technology, a bespoke leisure offer and a truly stunning architectural design all complement Trinity Leeds’ unrivalled retail mix that has contributed to the centre’s continuing success.”
