The company has confirmed the progress of Stockholm’s Mall of Scandinavia – known as the Home of the Flagships – where significant letting activity has been taking place.

This includes deals with Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti and Superdry. In addition Disney Store and Michael Kors have agreed terms to open their first Swedish outlets at the landmark development.

They will join an impressive tenant line-up comprising leading retail and leisure operators. Twenty one restaurants have already signed for Mall of Scandinavia’s Dining Experience concept featuring award winning establishments and top chefs.

Another attraction is The Designer Gallery, bringing contemporary and premium fashion retailers to a dedicated space inspired by iconic magazines and concept stores.

Mall of Scandinavia will also be home to Sweden’s first commercial IMAX cinema with 15 screens and 1,800 seats.

Lars-Áke Tollemark, Managing Director Nordics at Unibail-Rodamco, said: “Mall of Scandinavia will not just raise the standards of shopping in the Nordics, but set the benchmark for future retail and leisure environments.

“The shopping centre will offer customers an immersive experience of innovative retail and leisure concepts leading the way in future retail.”

Unibail-Rodamco confirmed that the construction of the scheme is on schedule, with the superstructure now in place and the internal fit-out advancing well.

Work is also progressing on the refurbishment and expansion of Unibail-Rodamco’s Glóries shopping centre in Barcelona.

The upgraded destination will benefit from the involvement of renowned architect Jos Galán and acclaimed designer Javier Mariscal.

Parts of Glóries are already open and trading, including El Mercat – the 34,400 sq ft market featuring the best of Catalan food. El Mercat was fully leased before its September opening, and has proved to be a popular destination.

Discussing the progress, Simon Orchard, Unibail-Rodamco’s Managing Director Spain said: “We are realising a huge amount of potential here at Glóries – located in one of the three strongest primary catchment areas in Europe.

“Our refurbishment project is currently running to schedule and when completed will create an entirely new shopping experience and meeting place in Barcelona.”

In Palma de Mallorca, Unibail-Rodamco’s Palma Springs development is on course for its autumn 2016 opening.

The 753,500 sq ft shopping centre is ideally located in the Playa de Palma and is expected to attract over 10 million visitors per year.

Palma Springs already has a strong line-up of retail and leisure occupiers confirmed, and Simon Orchard anticipates that the centre will prove very successful.

“In line with our primary focus on large shopping centres in major European cities, we see massive potential in Palma de Mallorca – internationally, nationally and locally – one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.”
