Unique Ways Of Creating Commercial Property

As the commercial property in the UK regions appears to be suffering from a period of stagnation, commercial property investors are looking for more unique ways of creating and renovating space for commercial property use.

A fine example of this is Julian Peck, owner of Manchester-based Peck Properties, who has recently sparked life in a former mid-19th Century porter’s lodge in Chorley, Lancashire, by converting the premises into modern, contemporary, serviced office space.

Peck is a resident of the area and saw the redevelopment as a great way to put some life into the area and avoid an iconic structure from falling to ruin.

The Wap, a forgotten Lancashire gem on Dark Lane, Whittle le Woods, Chorley, sits on the banks of the Leeds/Liverpool canal and was once a popular social drinking spot for users of the canal. The Leeds/Liverpool canal stretches some 127 miles, between, unsurprisingly, Leeds and Liverpool. First opened in 1774, the canal was used to carrying millions of tons of coal from Yorkshire, through to Liverpool.

The reason the premises is known as The Wap is an interesting story. According to Robert Pinkus & Co, who have been appointed as agents for the newly converted commercial property: ‘Bargees used the colloquial term “I’ll just wap up for a drink” and the property became affectionately known as The Wap.’

The renovations have created space for up to 10 workspaces, with all the amenities you would find in a modern serviced office available, including on site parking.

The commercial property is not only located in idyllic surroundings,  but also in a very practical position. Robert Pinkus & Co state: ‘The property is situated close to J8 M61 and A674 with local amenities including a post office, David Lloyd Health Club, Malt House Premier Inn and The Red Cat. Chorley town centre is 3 miles away.’
