Women’s Pre-holiday Pamper can Cost more than the Holiday Itself

According to a recent study, some women are spending more money on getting their faces and bodies ready for a holiday, rather than the holiday itself – depending on where and when they are going of course!

Women like to look good, so why skimp when it comes to a holiday. But what are we spending money on and are they really necessities for sitting on a lounger all day drinking cocktails in the sun?

Sara Stern from Debenhams believes they are. She said: “Looking good on holiday involves a lot more than finding that perfect bikini.

“Women are willing to pay to look great, and while they are happy to snap up bargain holidays, they simply won’t compromise on the cost of feeling their best.”

The days are long gone when a haircut from a commercial property was all what was needed to board a plane. According to the Debenhams study women see manicures, pedicures, body massages, waxing and eyebrow tinting as necessities. But the wackiest of all might be getting a spray tan costing around £40 prior to going on holiday.

“Our survey results show that even for a one week holiday, women are prepared to invest serious money and time in looking body-beautiful on the beach,” Sara added.

The total cost of treatments for a pre-holiday pamper can come in at a whopping £472 – but the price isn’t the only thing to worry about. According to the study, if a woman receives all the treatments mentioned it will take her almost 11 hours. Those hours could be spent on the high street buying those last minute essentials such as mosquito repellent and burn cream from retail commercial properties.

So it seems that for some people, disposable income has no boundaries when it comes to looking good. But would you spend over £400 pampering yourself prior to your holiday? Or like me, would you prefer to use the money whilst you are actually abroad?
