A popular York hotel is for sale with a guide price of £18 million. The Park Inn by Radisson, which is situated alongside the River Ouse, offers 200 modern en-suite rooms and excellent dining facilities in the heart of the historic Roman city.

The commercial property is an ideal base for tourists as it is in walking distance to all the major visitor attractions including York Minster, the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. In the evenings they can relax in a 120 cover bar and grill and a 20 cover lounge bar. The hotel also boasts a health and fitness club.

The Park Inn by Radisson is also ideal for business travellers as it is in close proximity to the offices of many companies in the region. In addition the hotel provides 28 business friendly rooms and 13 flexible meeting rooms which can accommodate up to 400 delegates. It is also close to York Train Station and is easily accessible via the A64, the A1 and the M1.

The commercial property, which is on North Street, has undergone £5.5 million of refurbishment work since 2008 and has been put up for sale by its owners Jefferson Hotels. The sale is being handled by Savills, and hotels associate James Bradley says it represents a “rare and excellent” opportunity to invest in York’s strong hotel industry.

Insurance provider Aviva is also making the news in York. The company has signed a five year deal with Tesco Bank to provide life insurance to its customers. The deal will increase the customer base of the company whose life and pensions business is based in a commercial property in the city.

David Barral of Aviva said; “We are delighted with this new distribution agreement which further strengthens our position as one of the leading life protection providers in the UK.”
