Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville are reportedly involved in a joint venture to redevelop a city centre police station.
According to Property Week the pair are named on Company House documents as directors of Jacksons Row Developments. Together with fellow director, former Modus boss Brendan Flood, they are said to be interested in the 1.8 acre site on Bootle Street which is being vacated by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
Jacksons Row Developments is also said to own the neighbouring Manchester Reform Synagogue, which Modus planned to demolish and redevelop before the commercial property company entered administration during the recession.
It is now believed that the GMP commissioner and the council are considering appointing a developer, though no final decision has been made. They are understood to prefer a mixed-use scheme incorporating a new synagogue and 400,000 sq ft of space spread over 12 to 14 storeys.
England coach and popular pundit Neville is no stranger to the commercial property market. Construction of his 139-bed hotel adjacent to Old Trafford is currently underway and he recently acquired the former stock exchange building on Norfolk Street. Along with veteran player Giggs, he is also involved in a project to run a hotel and football themed café at the Westfield shopping centre in London.
