With building activity in both the residential and commercial sectors rising, Bristol based Helm Construction has announced five new appointments to its growing team.
The appointments span a wide spectrum of the firm’s departments and will prove essential in both the organisation and delivery of ongoing projects in the coming months.
Project management specialist Mark Witherdige (above) will join the firm as Contracts Manager, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the commercial and residential sectors from new build to renovation.
Witheridge has worked in the construction sector for over 30 years, with his career spanning both blue chip and smaller competitors, giving him the ideal qualifications to oversee current and future contracts.
Meanwhile, Peter De’Vanney (below) will take up the position of Site Manager. De’Vanney holds a BA (Hons) and has worked on a number of successful projects, with his speciality being in the fields of stone masonry and brickwork.
Helm Construction’s Chief Executive Gary Sheppard said: “Peter brings a wealth of experience in the construction sector and is also a fully qualified stone mason, which gives us another core skill to offer clients.
“He was very impressed with our training programme which will give him the opportunity to extend his skills even further.”
Joining De’Vanney, are Tahir Hinds and Joshua Purnell who have joined Helm as site labourers.
“With a number of years’ experience in construction, Tahir and Joshua will help ensure our sites are well maintained and kept in good professional order,” said Sheppard.
Finally, joining Helm’s office staff is Stephanie Munro (below), who will fill in the position of trainee administrator. Munro has aspirations to forge a career in business administration and finance, and as Helm Construction continues to grow this will be the ideal base from which to develop her skills.
Gary Sheppard believes that the new appointments will allow Helm Construction to better cope with the growing demandacross both the commercial and residential sectors.
He says; “We’re determined to change the image of building firms for the better and are confident these new appointments will help us achieve our aim.”
Each of the new recruits will have the ability to take advantage of Helm Construction’s training scheme, which aims to shape and encourage a new generation of industry specialists.
With the industry facing a huge shortfall of skilled workers, Helm is determined to remain ahead of the curve in both skills and quality provision, in order to take advantage of the South West construction boom.
