Fast Food’s Healthy Appetite For Commercial Property

Posted on 22 July, 2011 by MOVEHUT

Due to an increasing social awareness of health concerns we all feel the desire (or perhaps guilt-induced obligation) to adapt our eating habits in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle. Conversely we’re much more reluctant to forfeit the convenience offered by the ubiquitous fast food outlets and high street coffee shops. With a view to reconciling the hectic pace of modern living with the healthy diet required to fuel this, Pod – the quickest growing healthy fast food chain in the UK – has continued its commercial property expansion in Central London with the opening of three new stores, an expansion that looks set to continue throughout the City and beyond.

Perhaps looking to offset the inherent unhealthiness of the smog-filled capital, Pod has acquired several commercial properties since opening its first London Wall store in 2006. The increasing demand for the healthy eating options offered by Pod has largely enabled this meteoric rise within the fast food market, assisted by the commercial property nous of leading consultants CBRE. With new stores including those on New Street, Chiswell Street and in Regent’s Place, and with the intention of operating a total of twenty stores across the city by the end of the year, there are seemingly endless organic options for the calorie-counting, smoothie-supping, quinoa-keen Londoner. The distribution of Pod’s commercial property throughout the city has married the consumer demand for a choice of healthy foods with a real product accessibility that is fundamental to a successful enterprise. And, assuming a similar demand exists in other regions of the UK, there’s no reason why the success of the brand in the capital cannot be transferable and sustainable.

With such green credentials and a balance sheet emphatically in the black, the future of Pod is looking rosy. The recent strategic commercial property acquisitions have been crucial to the expansion enjoyed in 2011 and with equally ambitious plans for growth already in place for 2012 there are likely to be plenty of peas springing from this particular Pod.
