Maryland Property Owner Offers 10K Bounty to Find Buyer

Adam Hewison has been trying to sell his three-building parcel of commercial and residential property for almost three years without success. To get the property to move, he is offering a $10,000 bounty to the person who can bring him a buyer.

The Galesville listing includes HomePort Wine and Spirits and an adjoining restaurant. A four-bedroom house is also part of the package. Hewison is expecting to get at least $1 million from the sale.

He made the decision to let the wine store go so that he could focus his attention on his main enterprise, INO.com. The Annapolis company provides stock information to traders.

The wine store has been described as venture that would be a good fit for someone who is looking to change careers. A retiree who is looking to start a business may also be a potential buyer for the property.

Hewison has contacted the wine shop’s former owners to let them know that it is on the market and about his cash offer to whoever can help him find a buyer for the property.

The house measures 2,300 square feet and was built in 1850. The other buildings date to 1921. The property was called the Topside Inn when Hewison and his business partner Dave Maher purchased it in 2004.

They remodeled the 1,900 square foot wine shop and chose to lease the restaurant. Over the years, it has had a number of different operators. The site has been closed since 2010.

Hewison admits the restaurant may be making his property a tough sell to potential investors. An operator would have to depend on summer trade to keep the business going over 12 months.

He contends that it could be a good opportunity for someone who is familiar with the business. The new owner could either live in the house or rent it to generate additional income.
